Last July 30, 2009 at around 3:52 pm i saw my phone flashing a light and saw my mom's name on the screen. I wonder why? So, i sent a message asking why? she called again and told me a very unexpected news. "Darating na si Dad, nagtext kaninang 3." mom said. A sudden rush run through my veins, and told myself "Yes! Finally the missing puzzle piece is coming home again."
Well, i know you guys are wondering why do I consider my dad as a missing puzzle pieces, it's simply because for 19 years I never really experienced celebrating a special occasion with a complete family members. You know, the usual mom, dad, brother, sister, baby can never be applied to my history. My dad is a seaman and as we all know a seaman needs to go to different places and leave their family behind. And, I'm one of the family that's left behind.
I know that he's doing it for us, for our future, for our own good. It's just I can't fully understand why can't he be with us on special occasion even once. I know I'm still lucky because there are a lot of teens out there who never met their father, I'm just being emotional. I can't help my self but cry when I hear songs that my dad sings, when i see a complete family going out together for dinner or simply to spend time with each other.
At around 11pm my dad arrived. I went teary eyed when I saw him and when i saw my family walking at the parking lot. My dad holding hands with my mom, my brother pushing my dad's baggage at the cart, my two little sisters running and teasing each other, and me looking at them smiling. At that very moment i told myself "I never experienced celebrating a special occasion with a complete family but I'm thankful that my family is complete."
God really is full of suprises.. :)
